Timber Fire Protection

Timber Fire Protection

Intumescent Coatings for Timber

Intumescent coatings protect wood by releasing a layer of chemical foam that swells and insulates the wood beneath it. This layer chars and slows the spread of fire so that the wood underneath does not sustain as much damage.

Benefits of Timber Fire Protection

Safety

Fire retardant paints and intumescent coatings are vital to ensure the safety and fire resistance of timber and plasterboard surfaces. It’s also essential to meet British safety standard BS 476 when it comes to fire regulations for domestic and commercial buildings.

Versatility

With spray application the protective coating can be applied quickly and efficiently.
For internal and external protection there are few limitations for this timber treatment.

Cost Effectiveness

Timber treatment is by far and away the most cost effective method of protecting the wooden surfaces. Spread of flame values vary according to the specification required.
